While in the northern hemisphere the survey conducted by the HAWC and LHAASO gamma-ray observatories significantly enriched our knowledge on TeV gamma-ray sources, there is not such a facility in the Southern hemisphere yet. The MPIK is involved in the development of the next-generation Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory (SWGO). The highly international SWGO collaboration is currently deeply engaged in the prototyping of hardware and software, and working towards a design consolidation. Prof. Hinton wird über das SWGO Project sprechen und im Bild sieht man einen Gewässersimulationstank, der am MPI für Kernphysik steht. Letztendlich soll in einem (evtl. künstlich angelegten) See in Südamerika in ca. 5.000 m Höhe Gammastrahlung detektiert werden.
